Calligraphy: Free as a Bird

Wonderfully simple lesson can be done with a single brush, ink and paper. Deeply meaningful exercise that progresses you through three different styles of writing the word bird and finally evolving one of the styles in a simple crane painting.

 

MATERIALS (suggestions):

 

• Large Orchid Bamboo (H2D).
• OAS Large Flow (C2D).
• Happy Dot (H1C).

 

Ink:

• Either Ink Slate with Ink Stick or Japanese Sumi-e Ink for Calligraphy.

 

Paper:

• Single Shuen (P10).
• Calligraphy Grid Paper (P03C).
