Joon Thomas is on the faculty of the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida, teaching Chinese calligraphy and Chinese history; conducts classes open to the public in calligraphy, painting and bookbinding at Sweetwater Print Cooperative, also in Gainesville; and is available for presentations and workshops. Joon has been a professional artist, calligrapher and printmaker for four decades, creating original work in many different scripts and languages, including Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit, English, Hebrew, etc. Joon studied under Chen Lok Lee, Weng Rulan and Yao Youxin, and holds degrees in history from Haverford College (with Chinese language study at the University of Pennsylvania) and in fine arts and printmaking from the University of the Arts.
