Description:
Warm earth tone bands of brownish red and golden ochre undulate and swirl randomly across the lower surface of this stone. The bottom three quarters of the seal serves as a pedestal for a fully carved fu dog guarding several coins. The sculpted area is a more solid cool gray color with minimal yellow and red accented areas. In spite of its slender, somewhat delicate look, this seal commands a surprisingly strong presence.
Symbolic Meaning:
The fu dog is a mythical creature in Chinese culture, a guardian thought to have magical protective powers. It can traditionally be found fulfilling its duty in front of Chinese homes, and public and religious buildings. Money or coins represent good fortune.
