Su-sing Chow has published a popular, simple to follow series on the iconic subjects of brush painting often referred to as "The Four Gentlemen." These are: Orchid, Bamboo, Chrysanthemum, and Plum.
Orchid is the gentleman of the Spring. Su-sing Chow is his book Fundamentals of Chinese Floral Painting Vol. 2: Book of the Orchid provides wonderful examples of finished orchid paintings and isolated elements like leaves and petals in ink and color and in both spontaneous and fineline styles.
