Plum is the first of the 4 Gentlemen (the foundational subjects in Chinese Brush Painting that form the basis for beginning study) and represents the season of Winter. This subject, with its 3 basic stroke techniques is important for practicing and mastering so, a proper foundation is created to be able to paint more complex subjects with ease.
